Boys'
Christening Gowns
~
Traditionally,
a Christening gown for baby boys was no different than a gown for
a baby girl. But times have changed and there is definitely a style
of Christening outfit just for boys!
Today's
modern Dad often demands something "all boy" and yet the
family doesn't necessarily want to give up the tradition of a Christening
gown altogether. The gowns here were designed for this very
purpose.
The
most popular gowns for boys are the convertible gowns - they're
actually a baby suit with a skirt that can button on/off. Thus it
can be a gown one moment and a romper the next. These usually make
"manly" fathers very happy!
But
some styles are simply designed without "girly" features
such as lace or ruffles. These are often called "Family Gowns"
because they can really be passed on from one child to the next
without respect to gender. Some times they will come with two caps -
one for boy and one for girl - so each wearer can look very special
and yet wear the family's heirloom gown.
Don't
assume that you absolutely have to have a gown, though. Baby boys
being baptized today are often in a suit - like those found in our
Baby
Suits
department.
